Presentations

We offer two types of presentations of which your group can choose from.

The introductory presentation is intended to familiarize your group with Israel/Palestine, the land, the peoples, the current day situation, and the peace and nonviolence movement in the region. We also offer some concrete ways and ideas for your group to contribute to peace in the region.
We can tailor this presentation according to what you would like your group to focus on.

We also offer an advanced presentation for those who are more familiar with the region. This presentation includes an in-depth discussion of the current situation, the challenges and complexities for both peoples, and an in-depth discussion of the history.
Again, we can also tailor this presentation according to what you would like your group to focus on.

PALESTINE TRAININGS

In February 2007, our Executive Director, Tarek Abuata along with Sharon Key and Avi Melech, joined Dr. Bernard LaFayette (U.S. Civil Rights Activist, Co-founder of SNCC, and close confidant of Martin Luther King) for a week long in depth discussions about Kingian Nonviolence methods and their applicability in Palestine/Israel. The team also did a two day nonviolence training in Ramallah to Palestinian men and women who came from all over the West Bank and Gaza.

As a follow-up to this two day training, LTN is part of a team helping to bring 15 Palestinian women and men to continue their nonviolence trainings in Rhode Island this summer at Dr. LaFayette's Center for Nonviolence and Peace Studies. http://www.uri.edu/nonviolence/

US TRAININGS

The purpose of these trainings is to develop nonviolent leaders and expose people to various nonviolent concepts and to develop churches, colleges and schools that would be helpful in cultivating a nonviolent society. These trainings can also be used in learning strategies to institutionalize nonviolence in various organizations.

TWO DAY TRAINING CORE
This course gives the participants a comprehensive introduction to Martin Luther King Jr.'s philosophy, thinking and strategy. The seminar is useful for individuals who work with young people, people who respond to conflict situations and people who experience different levels of violence. It provides a framework for conflict reconciliation/management, mediation and arbitration. The course consists of several modules. For example:

a. The concepts of nonviolence such as classifying the different types and levels of conflict
b. Martin Luther King's eclectic philosophy based on his writings,
c. A description of Martin Luther King's 6 principles
d. Analysis of the six steps of nonviolence
e. Review of Martin Luther King's campaigns and their salient points
f. Role play, lectures and exercises that illuminate the material
In addition, there will be a review of a video presentation as well as reading assignments.

ONE DAY TRAINING
This course is a condensed version of the two-day core based on the needs of the participants/agency.
